Rhiannon Dionysius is an interdisciplinary artist from Brisbane who works primarily in ceramic sculpture and relational clay workshops. Through a focus on technical skills of construction and use of conventional ceramic forms her practice engages with the materiality of ceramic-making processes and uses mark-marking as a signifier of the temporality and labour involved in working with the medium.
Her practice reflects on personal experiences of emotional and physical vulnerabilities but currently is most engaged with a more process driven material play and the act of repetition and endurance required in working with the medium.
Alongside her artistic practice, Rhiannon has been involved in other curatorial projects and has an interest in engagement with community centered events which focus on bringing different creative practices together. Past projects she has worked on include art coordinator/curator for the series of Paint It Red music and art events held at Jugglers Art Space and as the art coordinator for Roving Conspiracy events.
Rhiannon has exhibited previously in various exhibitions; for example at the Hold Artspace in West End, the Laundry Artspace in East Brisbane, the Red Door Gallery in Toowoomba and will be exhibiting with CORFLUTE ARI as a part of the BARI Festival in October 2016. Rhiannon graduated from a Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Queensland College of Art in 2016, majoring in sculpture
